BlogSecret: Love Squared

You may have noticed the BlogSecret that's been resting over in my right rail for a couple of weeks. The lovely Nilsa has organized a secret swap among 80 bloggers, and I am participating. You'll probably never know where my secret post ended up. But while you're wondering, please enjoy and comment on the guest secret post below...

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Is it possible to be in love with two people at once?

Yes. I speak from experience.

Being truly in love with two people at once is....

a grapefruit-sized pit in the stomach that I would not wish on my worst enemy.

endless nights spent shaking and sobbing over the thought of choosing the wrong one... or waiting too long to choose and ending up alone.

dreaming about "the other one" while laying in the arms of "the one."

breaking up with "the other one" who still holds a rather large place in your heart... and listening to this person cry and ask "why?"

feeling guilty for each kiss and embrace exchanged.

wondering why you were so blessed and yet cursed to find true love in two people simultaneously, while others may never find it once in an entire lifetime.

finding peace with your decision and building a life with "the one."

I think love has to become a choice for it to work. You fall, it's great, and then it gets to the hard stuff. Making it last and making it work. That you've fallen in love with two people makes it all so much worse.

Man, I'm feeling that grapefruit, too.

forever I told myself you can only love 1 person at a time. The I fell in love with someone else. I denied it for months. But it was true. I loved her.

I'm truly of the opinion you don't pick who you love... love picks you.

This isn't anonymous is it? I'm kidding. I just read your comment on Brandy's BlogSecret post and it sounds like you can personally relate a bit to this story.

Love is a tricky emotion, that's for damn sure. Just be honest with your self about expectations.

Egan - my secret is far juicier than this. Haven't you ever been in love with two people at once? Maybe it's a girl thing.

But as my Secretblogger explains, it really sucks. I can't imagine being in that situation now. I feel her pain and hope she can find some clarity on the situation.

Being in love with two people, I'm actually not sure that's happened to me. I do think guys are capable of this though. We're not all that different than woman, we just express ourselves differently.

It's a tough choice, but I'm hoping you're happy with the choice you made. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad that you've found peace with your decision. And that grapefruit sized pit in your stomach ? Is possibly one of the worst feelings in the world.

I'm glad it worked well at the end. Being happy with your decision is the best decision in the end.

Philosophy time. I can barely get one girl interested in me, let alone two. I guess it's a good thing I've never been anybody's "one". I'm sure it would be tough to be in that position.

Or maybe I was, and they simply made their choice...

I guess one never knows for sure...

End philosophy ramble.

This is so hard, because it doesn't come from a malicious place at all, yet you feel like you are still hurting people. I hope the last sentence is about you, too.

Reminds me of the last episode in every season of the Bachelor...

love is love. I hate it that we have to deny love or feelings of love because we are in a relationship. Why is "I Love you" such a hard thing to share?
love is not sex. lust is not love.
Love is love and yes I think you have every right to love more than one person, but be honest enough with yourself that it is just simply love- not the sex or the lust or the complicated stuff that has you in such turmoil.

No one teaches you (when you're young) that it's even possible to fall in love with anyone other than "the one." Who knew that there could be more than one?! Glad you figured it out.
